I’m using it for a project, this is a really great alternative to create your cloud hosting.
There is also http://seafile.com/ but I didn’t try it. ownCloud is really easy to install and to use.

Yes we could! There is an easy web installer on the installation page.
You can try the demo if you want just to see how it works. I don’t know at all GDrive or DBox, but for me this is good enough.
