Tickets pre-ordering are available for some weeks now.
Program : https://www.blender.org/conference/2015/presentations
I’m going for sure, who are interested to join?
Like the two last years, we can rent a room or a flat together.
/* Edit from Collignon_David @ 2015/10/12 */
Vincent, Régis, DanS and I booked our tickets from eurolines.be (30€/person for a round trip ticket)
We’ll leave from Gare du Nord (Brussels) at 19:30 by bus. The trip take around 3 hours.
Vincent and DansS are going back on Sunday at 20:30, Regis and I on Monday 26 at 18:30
- Let’s meet there at 19:00 §Don’t be late please) for check-up and other stuffs as usual.
This year I’m definitely in!
There’s no way I could miss it two years in a row…
I’m thinking about the Saturday night dinner too, but I think I’m gonna join anyway: it’s usually a good time to get all the french speaking b3d people around a single table 🙂
For the bnb/hostel, I’ll tell you asap if I join you or if I can stay at my cousin’s flat.
I’ve never attended this conference, and actually I’ve never even been to Amsterdam. The idea of going already crossed my mind the previous years, although going alone didn’t seem fun at all…
Dumb question: is it really worth it ? 😀
I’m quite tempted to join…
I wouldn’t go alone either.
Some conferences are super interesting, others cringe-worthy…
But it’s a cool event :
- you’ll meet a few new peoples if you’re not too shy.
- you’ll learn a things of two about Blender and its new features roadmap
- if you can’t stand it anymore, Amsterdam is quite nice to visit too (I’m always thinking about staying a day or two longer than the actual conference but didn’t have the opportunity yet)
I find it expensive but it’s Blender, right ? ; )
Live & Learn
Actually, If I had to, I would go alone 🙂
And, my two cents: it’s not very expensive, when you compare to other events of this type.
For example, the Unite Conference (about Unity 🙂 ) Is about 400$ if my memory is correct.
But still: it’s a lot of money ^^
Ok, I just paid my 3 days ticket without diner : D
And I’m intending on staying one extra day to visit the Blender Institute and some museums/ballads in Amsterdam. So, as usual, I’m looking for peoples willing to go together by
car bus and sharing some BnB (last time was so much better than the hostel).
I’ll just pay the extra fee for the last day and come by myself I guess.
Live & Learn
I don’t think that’s expensive for that kind of event.
Bus is OK with eurolines.
The flat we rent last year was quite good and well located, but I don’t care so much about the flat because most of the time, we’ll be at De Balie 😉
I’m not sure to stay on day more, maybe to visit the BI, but I don’t know if it worth it.
Hey, I had lots of fun on the conference last time I visited (and that is also where I met you guys and learned about the BBUG, so I am still superhappy I went).
This year I am not going to go. I have a PhD to finish and a website to build. Perhapse next your I can go to make some more people notice the website which we intend to launch again at the end of this year. (by the way, if anyone is interested in joining the building crew, we are still looking for people).
In the mean time, I have some nice, totaly not blender related news that I am just going to post here 🙂
I just got engaged to my girlfriend!
Have fun at the conference, but I will probably see everyone before then on the masterclass. Looking forward to that as well.
I’m interested in joining for the BnB. I will probably return to Brussels Sunday, but I’m not quite sure yet.
Do you plan to travel to Amsterdam early Friday morning? By travelling Friday and returning Sunday I think you can get a (open) weekend train ticket for around €45 total. Returning Monday the weekend offer would not apply.
I’ll be leaving brussels thurday 22th at 7.30pm and return sunday 25th at the end of the day.
So, we’re are 4 but 2 are staying one day more. Did you already checked for a BnB? Do we rent something all together?
Because we don’t stay the same moment, I’ve just bought my euroline ticket.
If you want to take the same bus as me for the departure, I leave brussels nord station the 22th at 7.30pm and the return is the 25th at 8.30pm.
After having a second look at the schedule for the conference and travel times, I think I will go Thursday evening too, and return Sunday evening.
I’m interested in sharing an apartment, but it depends a bit on how it turns out. I can register the costs for my trip as business expenses. In order to do this, the invoice or receipt would have to be in my name. If however, the cost is considerably lower than a hotel room, it doesn’t matter.
I had a look at AirBnB but didn’t see any obvious good and cheap options. Have anybody found anything? Are you travelling to Amsterdam on Thursday David and redj?
I would like to arrange the accommodation within a few days if possible.
Yes thursday is best, to start the conference fresh 🙂
I checked airbnb and did a bit of math with this appartment : https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/8397086?checkin=10%2F22%2F2015&checkout=10%2F26%2F2015&guests=5&s=Yx8YqGbw
If we are five to go there, including 2 that stay for one more night, it would cost 140 euros each for the 3 that stay 3 nights, and for the two remaining that’s 251,5 euros to keep the same place 4 nights.
So a flat around 200€/night for 5 people can be cheap… well how many are we again ? 🙂
I have bought bus tickets with eurolines too. Leaving Brussels Thursday 19:30 like everybody else, and returning from Amsterdam Sunday at 20:30.
When it comes to accommodation, I managed to reserve a hotel room for a good price very close to De Balie. I can, however, cancel it throughout this week. If you find a good apartment for 3 people, don’t worry about me. If the best options are for 4 people, I can consider cancelling the hotel room and joining you.
Thanks all for this week-end, it was dense, but both funny and interesting!
I’ll definitely sign up for the next one 🙂
I took a few pics (not much from the conf but mostly from the city, since it was my first time in Amsterdam) i’ll post a few as soon as possible
Maybe 20 minute walking from de Ballie, easy to find.
Small but crowded with everybody waiting for their plane but still willing to chat a bit.
Definitively a ‘Must do’
